Federal Land Boundary Cases and Codes
This book is intended to be a complete collection of the Federal land boundary cases and code sections as referenced in each of the six editions of "Brown's Boundary Control and Legal Principles" ("Brown's"). This book is not affiliated with "Brown's", its Authors, or its publisher.
There are three code sections and twenty-eight cases included in this collection.
These Federal cases include the graphic illustrations included in the official reports. I have also included the exhibits from the 1973 "Manual of Survey Instructions" relevant to included cases "Lee Wilson v. United States" referred to as "Moon Lake" in the Manual, and "Jeems Bayou v. United States" called "the Ferry Lake Case" in the Manual.

California Land Boundary Cases and Codes
This book is intended to be a complete collection of California land boundary cases and code sections as referenced in each of the six editions of "Brown's Boundary Control and Legal Principles" ("Brown's"). This book is not affiliated with "Brown's", its Authors, or its publisher.
There are four code sections and thirty-two cases in this collection.
These California cases are direct images from the published official reports, and include all of the graphic illustrations included in those reports. This book also contains additional maps as referenced in the cases, such as the 1842 map of "Nueva Helvetia" for John Sutter, and the GLO plat referenced in Wood v. Mandrilla.
Who should purchase these books: Land Surveyors, Title Personnel, Legal Professionals, Students, and others who would like a ready reference to the California and Federal cases and code sections referenced in "Brown's", regardless of which edition they have.
These are not intended to be collections of cases definitive of the current law affecting land boundaries, and they should not be used as such. The practicing professional should perform the research necessary to ascertain the current state of law on any issue in controversy, and seek legal advice when appropriate. These books do not contain legal advice.

Feedbacks, Comments & Suggestion
- From a former student:
- Hi Tom-
- I just wanted to tell you that the Legal Aspects classes were very helpful. After class ended I pulled out my 1001 Solved Surveying Problems (Van Sickle) and went through the legal portion. I was pleasantly surprised when I whipped through the questions getting them right and/or had enough background to deduce answers I didn't immediately know. It was pretty awesome. Thanks!
- From a potential client:
- TOM:
- I deeply appreciate your help and information, and thank you for it.I'll be discussing this with my wife and will get back to you about how we will proceed.Gratefully,
Books
While my first two books, Federal Land Boundary Cases and Codes and California Land Boundary Cases and Codes were written primarily for the licensed professional and people preparing for the professional exams, I am currently working on two new projects which will be directed toward beginning surveying students and technicians. Check back here for more information as I intend to have these available beginning in July 2010.
