Tom Propst is a private practice Land Surveyor in Irvine California. He is a Certified Federal Surveyor and is State Licensed in California, Virginia, and West Virginia.

In addition to his private practice he is also Instructor of "The Legal Aspects of Land Surveying" courses at Santiago Canyon College in the City of Orange.

Tom began his surveying career many years ago dragging chain and brushing lines for Tom Firor, County Surveyor of Pendleton County, West Virginia. After six years of "on the job" training in increasingly responsible positions, he decided to go to the State's leading surveying school, Glenville State College.

While still in his first year of college Tom took and passed the National and State portions of the Professional Land Surveyor examinations on his initial attempt, and received his first License to practice in 1987. He continued school and received his A.S. in Land Surveying with honors in 1988. That same year he moved to California and became involved in mapping for a mid-sized engineering firm, mainly producing subdivision maps for residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Tom received his California Land Surveyor license in 1989 and his Virginia license in 1990. The Federal Certification program kicked off with the first group approved in March 2007, and the second group in September. Tom was in the third group which was certified in February 2008.

All of Tom's experience has been with private sector firms, and his concentration has been in the legal and title aspects of surveying. He has prepared and or reviewed a great number of boundary retracement surveys, Subdivision Maps, Legal Descriptions, Condominium Plans, Lot Line Adjustments, Title Constraints Exhibits, and associated survey maps and documents.

Tom is a Consulting Expert for the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, and the Treasurer for the Orange County Chapter of the California Land Surveyors Association.

He is currently enrolled at National University pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Pre Law Studies with a minor in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
